America 250 ~ Celebrating Georgia's Colonial Naturalists December 7 - December 10, 2026

As our nation closes out a year of celebrating our 250th anniversary, join us in December on Little St. Simons Island as we celebrate 250 years of naturalists on the Georgia coast.

Authors and scholars, Dr. Beth Tobin and Dorinda Dallmeyer, will join our ecological manager, Scott Coleman, to lead the event. Beth and Dorinda, both retired faculty from the University of Georgia, each have books that will be published this year on Georgia’s most prominent colonial naturalists, John Abbot and William Bartram.

The event will include Island explorations focused on the subjects studied by these early naturalists including intact natural landscapes, native plants, wildlife, insects, and indigenous peoples. Current coastal conservation initiatives will be highlighted and Beth, Dorinda, and Scott will each provide evening presentations over the course of the 3-night event.

All-inclusive Package $2,125++ / 3 nights!

In addition to participation in this exclusive event for two guests, this package includes lodging, three meals daily prepared by our chefs, soft drinks, all Island activities including guided Naturalist excursions and use of recreational gear, as well as boat transfers to and from the island. All rates are for double occupancy in The Hunting Lodge, River Lodge, Cedar House or Helen House. The Tom House and Michael Cottage rates are higher. An additional adult in the same room is $275 per night and children under 12 are $175 per night. A 19% service charge plus applicable taxes will be added to the above rates.
