In the Kitchen on LSSI

February 19 - February 22, 2026

We’re excited to offer a new event that will allow guests a behind-the-scenes peek at the LSSI culinary operation and an opportunity to hone their own cooking skills. Join us for a long weekend of Island adventures and culinary delights. Participants will spend their mornings out enjoying the island with our naturalists, and their afternoons learning and cooking, for an Island visit with the best of both worlds!

This event is a deep dive into the world of shark biology and the role of sharks in marine ecosystems! Join shark biologists and Little St. Simons Island naturalists on adventures and activities that give you and your family hands-on experience with real research.

Sea Turtle Workshop

July 6 - 9, 2026

Join us in the height of Sea Turtle nesting season to get an immersive, behind the scenes experience of Sea Turtle conservation on the Georgia Coast. New this year, our Turtle Workshop aims to provide an opportunity for interested guests to engage with conservation beyond the daily Naturalist led activities, including dawn beach patrols, late night beach walks searching for nesting mothers, and guest researcher led talks.

Fall Shorebird Event

September 14 - September 17, 2026

Join us this fall for a deep dive into the world of shorebirds. Little St Simons Island’s seven miles of beach host thousands of migrating shorebirds each year like the Avocet, Red Knot, and Piping Plover, and we’re excited to offer this three-day program for those interested in learning more about shorebird conservation and research.

Beginner's Fly Fishing Workshop

December 15 - December 18, 2026

If you've ever been curious about saltwater flyfishing in the low country but felt unsure where to start, this workshop is just for you. Tailored specifically for beginners, the land-based program takes place amidst the beautiful coastal salt marshes of Little Saint Simons Island. You'll get hands-on experience learning essential skills such as basic casting, knot tying, selecting the right flies, and understanding shallow-water habitats—all from the shoreline.

Marine Clean-Up

January 18 - 21, 2027

Marine debris clean-up days at LSSI are a wonderful opportunity to participate in marine conservation. Our January event will be a clean-up of Little Saint Simons Island's 5-mile main beach.
